Position Title :Area Project Manager
Job Description and Qualifications
Position Summary:
Be Personally responsible for planning and safely managing multiple projects in an operating plant through their entire life cycle;
Manage projects throughout the stages of FEED, detailed engineering and design, procurement, construction, and commissioning & Start-up;
Develop construction packages, bid and award and manage contractors or EPC firms ensuring timely completion of deliverables;
Facilitate adequate and effective communication within and across the project team and stakeholders;
Provide oversight and direction for all project execution activities including overall safety, cost, schedule, quality, and risk;
Establish and maintain relationships with operations, engineering, construction, and contractor personnel to achieve success;
Ensure project and construction progress status is transparent and accurately reported out on a periodic basis;
Manage modifications & / or demolition in an operating plant, as needed, to support installation of new equipment.

Project Size: Multiple Projects from $100K to $ 150MM
Operating Budget (direct labor + overheads): N/A
The number of Direct Reports (approximate): None
Overall Supervision (approximate): Indirectly averaging 10-15 key members for each Project
Other Factors: Working in a remote, Oil Gas & Chemicals operating facility
Principle Accountabilities:
Maintain a safe work environment supporting team, organization and corporate safety goals;
Accountable for all phase of project execution including scope development, cost estimating, equipment procurement, engineering, design, construction management and equipment commissioning;
Develop strategies for execution, procurement, and construction in an operating facility;
Develop construction work packages and manage construction including supporting work permit and MOC process;
Overall safety, cost, schedule, quality and risk management for each project;
Identify and manage risks including mitigation actions and fallback plans;
Contract and customer management;
Control costs and schedule within budget, in compliance with milestones, and while achieving safety, risk and quality commitments;
Ensure project deliverables and expectations are met by collaborating with engineering, procurement, contractors, and operations;
Manage change on projects including assessing impact, developing resolution plans, and taking action to minimize impact;
Periodic project reporting;
Strong adherence to work process and safe work practices including quality records and project close-out.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree with 20+ years of project management on large, $1Billion+ oil, Gas & Chemicals projects, encompassing the entire project life cycle;
Extensive understanding of construction and start-up / commissioning techniques and constructability issues.
Strong field experience required including directing contractors and EPC(Engineering, Procurement, Construction) firms;
Proven track record demonstrating ability to manage different project simultaneously and within operating facilities;
Proactive leadership qualities with the ability to influence others and work through obstacles to achieve results;
Detailed and results-oriented, organized, self-motivated and customer focused;
Strong organization and planning skills with ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels of the organization;
Aptitude and flexibility for quick learning and adapting to site requirements;
Able to conduct business in English with good verbal and writing skills.
Preferred Skills:
Certified Project Management Professional (PMP);
Registered Professional Engineer;
Engineering & / or construction experience in Gasification (GFU), SRU, SARU, HRU &/or AGR Projects;
Experience & demonstration skills identifying problems, opportunities, assessing alternatives, and determining solutions;
Understanding of EPC contracts and the relationship between risk management and controls / management functions including: Project Management, Change Control, Planning & Scheduling, Cost & Commercial Management, and Reporting;
Experienced in the development of Correlation Models to ensure that schedule activities and resources are captured in the IRF / ICSRA model;
Collaborative working style and consulting behaviors;
Proficient in the use of Primavera P6;
Good knowledge of Oracle’s Primavera Risk Analysis (previously Pertmaster & Primavera Monte Carlo), including the analysis of complex, logic-linked cost loaded Level 3+ schedules;
Good knowledge of documentation management software, eg. Aconex, OpenText, Documentum, etc.
Strong analytics and use of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.)
