PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
Study and develop conceptual designs, prepare detailed engineering solutions, plan & monitor and coordinate all assigned modifications (projects) with project team for a wide range of tasks related to discipline scope. Act as a key focal point for in-house /subcontracted engineering. Review of engineering studies conducted in line with defined requirements, industry best practices and contractual agreements.
Project Management:
- Coordinate discipline review and approval of design and interfaces with Contractor on Company requirements and specification.
- Review and approve all related technical documents and coordinate with supervisor.
- Carryout technical reviews of all areas of work covered under Instrumentation & Control systems engineering projects while evaluating requests and recommending appropriate solutions and proposing changes as necessary within the defined project scope and protocols to facilitate achievement of defined objectives.
- Coordinate and provide engineering support for construction activities, including the assurance that construction engineering details are provided.
- Review and approve modifications (projects) as-built documents.
Design and Engineering:
- Carry out the design and technical reviews for all areas of work such as field instruments, Control valves, DCS/PLC control systems, Fire & Gas systems, analysers, Vibration monitoring systems etc.
- Execute verification, studies and detail design following best engineering practices and optimization in term of costs, construction simplicity, operability and maintainability, codes and standards, HSSE, etc.
- Prepares design specifications for Field instruments, Control & On-off valves, DCS/PLC systems, F&G systems, Liquid & Gas analysers, Gas chromatographs, Condition monitoring systems etc.
- Develops calculations for SIS loops, orifice sizing, control valve sizing, thermowell wake frequency etc.
- Develops DCS functional logic, PLC logic, hook up drawings, loop drawings, wiring diagrams, interface drawings, cable block diagrams, cable schedule, panel layout drawings, cable routing drawings, cable tray/duct layouts, instrument layouts etc.
- Prepares material specifications.
- Prepares MTOs and BOQs.
- Prepares Scope of Work and technical specification for Instrumentation & Control systems. Package items such as compressors, blowers, pumps, tanks etc. and Construction subcontracts.
- Prepares technical documentation for Instrumentation & Control system material requisition.
- Carry out technical evaluations.
Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality:
- Ensure compliance to all relevant health, safety, security, environmental and quality management procedures.
- To work closely with HSSE on related tasks.
- Ensure updating documentations related to modifications (projects).
- Participate in modifications (projects) risk assessments studies such as HAZOP/LOPA, etc.
Reports:
- Provide regular progress report related to assigned modifications (projects).
- Preparation of specific reports upon request.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications:
- Full-Time Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation/Electronics Engineering from an accredited university
- MME (Ministry of Municipality and Environment) engineering accreditation is a mandatory requirement. Candidates not holding this accreditation must be willing to achieve this within the probationary period.
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or undertaking the same will be an advantage
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Minimum Experience for discipline Engineer position:
- 10 years of experience in design/engineering in the field of Oil and Gas/Petrochemical industry.
- Good knowledge in discipline design/engineering with sufficient experience in different discipline areas
- In-depth knowledge of DCS/PLC control systems, SCADA systems, data acquisition systems, system architecture, networking, etc.
- In-depth knowledge and experience in various industrial communication protocols.
- Hands on experience in DCS/PLC/SCADA system programming.
- Experience in PLC/DCS/SCADA system FAT and SAT.
- Experience in Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), SIL calculations.
- TUV certification in SIL assessment and calculations.
- In-depth experience in interlocks and functional logic preparation.
- Knowledge of security management systems, CCTV systems and its networking.
Note: Candidates presently in Qatar will be preferred due to COVID19 related travel and visa limitations
