We have multiple opportunities for energetic people that work well in a team environment, who are passionate about their work and highly motivated to achieve. The roles are as R&D Associate Investigators focused on process and application development in the chemical and materials sector. Individuals will be responsible to move projects forward in a way that ensures the team is meeting timelines and milestones established through business processes.

Only recent graduates and experienced candidates with BSc or Technical Diplomas in chemical or material technologies will be considered for the roles.

The full-time roles are at DuPont’s Kingston Ontario Research Facility.

Duties and Responsibilities

In this role, the candidate will work with an R&D technical team to operate laboratory or pilot processes to establish basic data for scale-up and product development. The role includes:

Planning, organizing, and executing experiments in a team environment with guidance provided by a senior scientist and/or engineer.
Managing the supply chain and inventory of key chemicals and materials required to complete experiments in a timely fashion
Ensuring that process and test equipment is serviced and maintained and is ready to operate when needed.
Specifying new or modifying existing equipment required to meet project objectives while providing leadership to safely commission and operate this equipment.
Managing analytical testing for all raw materials, intermediates and finished products.
Documenting both operating parameters and experimental observations.

The role requires exceptional communication skills to ensure that the candidate can report findings to their team efficiently and effectively. The candidates must have attitude and approach that is consistent with a high level of Safety and Respect for People.

What You Will Bring

Qualifications

Significant or undergraduate experience in laboratory, pilot or plant operations
Working knowledge in chemical (GC, LC, FTIR, NMR, etc.), physical (density, DSC, TGA, etc.) and mechanical (theology, tensile, compression, shear, etc.) property testing methods
Working knowledge of one or more areas in mechanical equipment, process, production chemistry, structural, electrical, instrumentation, control systems and operations. Ability to read and understand process and instrumentation diagrams would be preferred.
Strong leadership and team skills
Strong written and verbal skills
Strong planning and reporting skills
Strong ability to work independently
Ability to establish networks through customers, contractors and suppliers
Comfort in working in projects deploying novel technology

Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

Required:

Technical diploma or BSc degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Chemical Technology, Material Science or closely related fields
