Job Summary
Responsible for managing all company-wide quality policies, procedures, processes, programs, and practices, to assure the company of continuous conformance with appropriate standards and regulations and the continuous improvement of the system. Provide management of document control, quality audits, and process improvement. Perform various duties required to support ASME, API, ACI, NACE, AWS, UL, and other related industry standards, as well as those involved with internal and external auditing of various processes and management of corrective actions, following standard established methods, procedures, practices and policies, in alignment with our mission, vision, values & operating principles. 

Position Responsibilities:
Quality Management (General)

  • Management of the daily activities of the Quality Control Department.
  • Leads the daily function of the quality inspection department to ensure conformity to quality standards of incoming and in-process inspection activities.
  • Act as liaison with customer, regulatory agencies, subcontractors and/or internal departments on quality related matters.
  • Ensure that the customer’s quality management requirements and concerns and the needs of multiple stakeholders are being identified and managed by the Project Team effectively. In conjunction with the Project /Location Quality Manager recruit and allocate quality practitioners to construction verification and inspection roles to ensure these activities are suitably resourced.
  • Identifies requirements for proper inspection practices and implements training to maintain and develop the quality department
  • Implements quality training programs to project personnel in conjunction with Project Managers and Superintendents 
  • Hires, trains, develops, and appraises staff effectively. Takes corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Consults with Human Resources as appropriate.
  • Reviews baseline inspection procedures and recommend improvements i.e. inspection processes, documentation, continuous improvement activities etc.
  • Maintain ASME Quality Control Program.
  • Leads the resolution of nonconforming product and assists in the determination of root cause
  • Provide checklist of client required documentation to the Fabrication Project Team. Monitor the accumulation of documentation throughout the job to assure accuracy, completeness and timeliness.
  • Audit fabrication performance against Procedures, Work Instructions and Directives.
  • Prepare internal and customer required weekly and monthly quality reports.
  • Self starter, highly motivated and performs well in critical situations

Planning:

  • Review contract documents, submittals, shop drawings, and schematics to determine the nature and scope of the project, the materials and equipment to be utilized, and develop the Inspection Test Plans.
  • Develop or review required submittals such as weld procedures, NDE procedures, etc. to ensure conformance with specifications and required customer approvals.

Cost Performance:

  • Eliminate rework through a timely and robust inspection process. Communicate all potential issues to appropriate personnel and provide resolutions to roadblocks.

Scheduling:

  • Coordinate client inspections and quality resource requirements with the project plan and schedule.

Execution

  • Maintain all documentation around Quality Assurance and Control
  • Maintain calibration program for inspection tools and equipment.
  • Inspect all fabrication work in progress, including work that is from outside vendors, and ensure the uniformly high-quality workmanship is maintained during each phase of fabrication.
  • Coordinate all in-house Nondestructive testing and assure these tests are performed in accordance with Worley and Client standards and specifications.
  • Maintain all project related inspection documentation.
  • Perform Module P & ID inspections, as required.
  • 10 years Quality experience in a Fabrication Shop or Process Plant construction, or 2 years of college and 8 years Quality experience in a Fabrication Shop or Process Plant construction.
  • Certified Weld Inspector (CWI)
  • ASNT (SNT-TC-1A) Level II in one or more method: VT, PT, MT, UTT (thickness readings), or RTI (film interpretation) preferred or equivalent education
  • NACE (preferred)
  • Computer Skills (MS Office Suite -  Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point, etc.)
  • Civil, structural, mechanical, and minor electrical inspection experience required.
  • Auditing experience preferred.
  • Read and interpret project fabrication drawings and specifications
  • Working Knowledge of Fabrication Codes, AWS, D1.1, API RP528, ASME Section IX, B31.3, B31.1, B31.4., B31.3, etc.
  • Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the Company.
  • Effective analytical and problem - solving skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; walk about in the fabrication / module shop environment, complying with all safety protocols and Personal Protective Equipment. Move within the office to retrieve files and meet with employees in their offices or conference room.
Perform hands on inspection activities that include climbing on, in or around various piping / module and structural fabrication configurations, with proper PPE (safety harness, lanyard, etc.) and perform inspections as required. This includes manual lifting of 50 lbs.
Able to work at a computer (reading and keying) for extended periods of time.
This role requires communicating verbally and in writing one on one, in small groups, as well as presenting to larger groups of employees.
