Role Outline/ Responsibilities

The Role of a Construction Manager typically includes the following responsibilities and a trainee will be appointed a position on a Project, or a number of projects that will provide exposure to all disciplines in order to develop a full understanding of both the Constriction Managers role and that of other departments, colleagues and stakeholders with a view to developing the necessary skills and attributes for successful Construction Management.

·         Compliance with the WorleyParsons HSE Policy and OneWay Integrity Management Framework

·         Foster and promote a positive working environment and attitude that reflects the Project Mission Statement, WorleyParsons Strategy, Ethics and Code of Conduct and Client values

·         Leadership of overall Construction effort and instigation of the Team

·         Develop and implement induction and training programs for personnel.

·         Carry out regular reviews of construction workload, manpower utilisation, and staffing requirements to ensure both the adequacy and efficiency of all assigned staff across nominated projects

·         Manage all aspects of HSE, Quality & Industrial Relations within assigned responsibilities and ensure that the content and objectives of the Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality Policies and manuals are implemented and understood by WP construction personnel.

·         Liaison with Procurement & Subcontract group. Participate in the selection and approval of subcontractors appointed to bid and undertake work for either the Company or on behalf of Clients.

·         Provide construction strategy and input for construction aspects of proposals including the ability to participate in review of all estimates for proposals and capital grade estimates for Construction projects and when required make presentations to prospective clients on construction capabilities. 

·         Development and communication of overall Construction Strategy in Conjunction with Project Team and with due regard to Simultaneous Operations and other constraints

·         Implementation of Project Constructability Programme and provision of input, including organisation and presentation of Constructability Reviews

·         Production of Construction Execution Plans, including Lifting, Transport, Pre-assembly and modularisation studies as applicable

·         Development of Temporary Facilities Schemes

·         Input to Project Estimates

·         Input to and development of Construction Schedule/Programme

·         Attendance at Design/Safety Reviews

·         Engagement and management of “in-house” and third party Consultants as required

·         Development of Construction Scope of Work and Bid Documents for Contracts

·         Input to project reports and forecasting

·         Oversee and Manage all Construction, Vendor Assistance and Service Contracts on the Project in accordance with relevant contracts laws, plans and procedures

·         Monitoring and approval subordinate hours

·         Input and review of weekly progress reports and monthly Construction & Commissioning reports with Project Controls

·         Approve Site Contract Applications and Valuation Certificates

·         Review and provide direction on with regard to Contract Notifications and Correspondence from Contractors

·         Chair the Construction Monthly Forecast/Review meeting.

·         Review the Construction Status weekly with Client and maintain communications and relationship throughout the project

·         Overall co-ordination and management of Construction and Fabrication works with Construction Superintendents and Contractors

·         Input and review of Construction Contract status with Contracts Engineer

·         Arrange and consult competent specialist advice as necessary

·         Pro-active communication of construction issues with project management for purposes of risk management with the aim of overall project success

Qualifications

Essential:

 

Minimum HNC, preferably in Engineering or Construction, with relevant work experience or Completion of a relevant Apprenticeship with considerable hands-on construction management experience.

 

Experience:

Essential:

  • Industry related work experience
  • Good organisational and communication skills

 

Desirable:

  • Safety Passport
