Important information about this role:

  • The Candidate will be located at the Shell Manitoba Terminal
  • Qualified candidates will need to be available each year during the months of May -  November.
  • Local Candidates to the City of Winnipeg is an asset
  • Candidates willing to relocate to the City of Winnipeg is an asset
  • Per Diem for living is not expected to be compensated
  • Willing to work weekends and extended overtime hours

 

Responsibilities:
 

  • Have a clear understanding of the scope of the job, identifying potential hazards and controls for those hazards in relation to the scope of the job.
  • Assessing the job site and/or work plan with the permit recipient to identify potential hazards/conditions and the appropriate controls required to mitigate those hazards/conditions.
  • Validating in the EPTW what specific precautions need to be taken during the work, including use of safety equipment and personal protective equipment.
  • Ensuring supporting documentation is included, such as but not limited to, certificates, safe work plans, Job Safety Analysis (JSA)/JHA are completed/attached to the EPTW.
  • Confirm appropriate operational preparations have been completed.
  • Confirming with permit recipient an authorized gas tester has been identified prior to commencing work to assure effective monitoring for oxygen, flammables/combustibles, and potential toxic atmospheres as applicable.
  • Confirming with permit recipient, prior to start of the work, that the conditions identified in the EPTW have been met.
  • Confirming that all affected personnel have been notified, and it is safe for the work to proceed. If conditions warrant, work is to be stopped.
  • Assure that “Specialists” are engaged and signatures obtained, when and/or as applicable   (i.e.,  Professional Engineers, HSSE, etc).
  • Signing and issuing the EPTW to the permit recipient.
  • Assuring that one copy of the permit is readily available at the worksite, one copy is at the permit issuer desk or electronic, where status of the permit can be readily assessed.
  • Cancelling, and/or closing the EPTW, as appropriate, when the work is complete, abandoned or suspended.
  • Throughout the work shift, confirm work being executed is within the boundaries of the permit.
  • Provide leadership and guidance on the permit process.
  • Participate in the daily Project update meetings.
  • Participate in the daily toolbox meetings.
  • Participate in all HSSE related activities.
  • Communicate the activities and concerns between the operations group and the Project.
  • Lead by demonstrating personal safety leadership.
  • Keep and file all permit documentation as required.

What you will bring

Technical and Industry Experience: 

 

  • Operator experience in finished terminals
  • 5+ years Site Safety Supervision experience or equivalent is an asset
  • Minimum 2 years experiences as a lead permit issuer
  • Shell permitting experience is an asset
