Ensure all pre-requisite controls have been implemented. This will include controls for the following but not limited to, Hot Work, Excavations, Confined Space, Working at Height, Lifting & Hoisting, Radiation, and electrical work.

Write daily or weekly safe work permits

Communicate the requirement for work-site checks to the Permit Requestor and communicate to the Permit Holder the Hazards at the work site and the Controls required to manage them.

Review and modify Job Hazard Analysis for all work being performed. This includes understanding means and methods of the work to be executed, identifying hazards associated with that work and applying mitigation to eliminate or reduce the hazards to As Low As Reasonably Practicable

Walk permitted jobs multiple times a day to monitor permits issued within their zones to ensure work is being conducted safely

Escalate issues as needed to construction/operations team

Fill out appropriate paperwork per safe work permit

Ensure implementation and ongoing effectiveness of work processes, operating discipline, and role.

Ensure systems are in place to reduce variation, produce quality products and meet client needs.

Interface and intervene with clients as required to drive projects to a successful completion.

Follows Operating Discipline principles, procedures and practices to ensure safe and efficient work areas.

Ensures job-specific health and safety issues and standards pertaining to the contractor personnel are addressed.

Responds to contractor concerns of unsafe conditions or hazards

Must have knowledge and application of OSHA Regulations, National Electric Code, Uniform Building Code, Universal Plumbing Code, American Petroleum Institute, Design & Engineering Practices, and other applicable codes that provide governance for work taking place.

The position requires a solid foundation in regular plant operations such as petrochemical, Oil and gas facilities and power generation. A minimum of 10 years operations experience with relevant experience issuing Safe Work Permits is required. A clear understanding of OSHA 1910 and relevant requirements for issuance of Safe Work Permits, Hot Permits, Entry permits is necessary.

Ability to read and understand P&ID’s and SLD’s.

Able to generate safe work envelopes by creating isolation packages.

Extensive experience in the use of procedures and workflows in the execution of projects

Turnaround or Commissioning Experience is an asset.
