- Data Collection & Analysis: Collect and evaluate operational data (labor, material, overhead, and inventory) to determine exact cost structures. [1]
- Variance Reporting: Establish standard costs, compare them against actual expenses, and investigate the root causes of variances. [1, 2]
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Support annual budget preparation, assist in periodic forecasting, and develop cost-benefit analyses for new projects. [1, 2]
- Cost Reduction Strategies: Identify unnecessary costs, evaluate operational processes for efficiency, and recommend cost-saving alternatives. [1, 2]
- Financial Modeling: Build and maintain financial models to accurately forecast future expenses and assist with pricing changes. [1, 2]
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with department heads, procurement, and project managers to ensure costs are captured accurately. [1]
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Experience: 2–5 years of proven experience in financial analysis, cost accounting, or budgeting (preferably in a manufacturing, supply chain, or corporate environment).
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, financial modeling) and experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a proven track record of presenting complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
- Certifications: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designations are highly preferred. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
