Position Summary 
Worley Industrial Services ULC. is seeking an Project Controls Specialist to join our maintenance and small capital project team in Fort McMurray.  Reporting to Project Controls Manager, this position is responsible for the development, maintenance, and monitoring of Primavera project schedules as well as cost engineering analysis and controls associated with these projects.

Core Responsibilities 

  • Ensures the integrity of the project budget through approved scope changes, fiscal changes and contingency reallocations
  • Interface with client Project / Cost Control leads to establish project estimates and ensure alignment of project control processes.
  • Assist Site Manager in preparation of organizational charts and mobilization plans to ensure successful execution of work
  • Coordinate and manage progress and performance data
  • Develop operational and client monthly reports
  • Verifies invoices and accuracy, coding and allocation
  • Verifies overhead charges and their distribution
  • Issues Project Cost reports including forecast final costs and variances
  • Flags significant projected over-runs or under-runs
  • Confers with supervisors to determine status of assigned projects
  • Represents organization as a key contact, interacting with Project Managers, senior internal and Client personnel on significant matters
  • Develops budget projections to identify and quantify critical budgetary, cost, schedule, technical, and programmatic risk factors
  • Assess the change impacts to project schedules and budgets
  • Complete change management assessments
  • Maintain Change Order register documenting variations to approved purchase order budget.
  • Ensure that variation instructions against supplier/service quotes and timesheets are verified in accordance with contractual agreements and commercial arrangements
  • Responsible for budget creation and updating of project budgets in coordination with    client. 
  • Coordinate with the client and Worley’s Field Accounting to ensure that project billing is completed in alignment with contract.
  • Assist management in reviewing and controlling non-billable costs.
  • Monitor project progress, cost and delays against planned work scopes and provide timely reports on field productivity.
  • Subcontractor Administration/Coordination support as required. 
  • Prepared and maintains financial forecasts and assists in financial reporting. 
  • Performs variance analysis, costing, budgeting and forecasting
  • Lead by example by demonstrating the importance of fostering a safety culture
  • Other as required by Project Controls Manager.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in an Oil & Gas/Petrochemical or Mining Industry EP Environment
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in both cost and scheduling
  • Degree in Engineering, Business Administration or a related discipline.
  • Shall have comprehensive understanding and application of project controls and scheduling principles, theories, concepts, and industry practices and standards
  • Software experience in Oracle, SAP. Primavera P6, Microsoft Project an asset.
  • High degree of IT technical proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, Project, Sharepoint)
  • Proven ability to plan, organize, direct, perform, review, and present project schedules and related documents
  • Strong organizational, planning and time management skills
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work in a leadership role
  • Excellent Writing and Oral Communication skills
