Why Does This Position Exist? | The Applications Transition Specialist is responsible for ensuring appropriate governance activities are completed for application projects from purchase through to transition into operations. The scope of this role is related to new application implementations, existing application upgrades and changes in support models.
The objective is to ensure that application specific solutions are aligned with Worley standards and guidelines, are documented and transitioned successfully into operational support.
This role will report to the Applications Solution & Transition Manager and will interact with stakeholders including; application owners, application support team leads, enterprise architects, IT security, project managers, vendors and IT management on matters related to governance across the application lifecycle. |
Key Accountabilities |
Governance: · Ensure established governance checks for introducing new software or applications are carried out in accordance with Worley procedures and tracked for compliance purposes; · Facilitate governance checks on new software or application requests to ensure reviews are conducted by all required parties; · Assess the application scope to determine the recommended level of transition management required on specific projects for handover to support; |
Transition Management: · Host regular review sessions with the project and support team to review progress against the transition related tasks; · Ensure the support model for an application or service is understood and any impact on SLAs is documented. · Facilitate any handover sessions and capture questions, issues for follow up before the project closes out; · Ensure all support documentation is provided, accepted and stored by the operational support team. Any existing application documents and assets that need to be updated are also tracked as an output of this process; |
Implementation: · Provide advice and guidance on critical tasks and expected methodologies to meet the requirements of the governance process and successful implementation of the defined scope. |
Business Partnering (optional): · Capture and escalate risks or issues observed during the governance processes to ensure mitigations can be put in place; · Work collaboratively across stakeholders, IT teams and vendors as required based on the scope and nature of the application project. |
Knowledge / Experience / Competencies Required |
Job Specific Knowledge / Experience · Proven knowledge and experience of the phases and key tasks involved in the implementation and handover of software applications to support. (3+ years) · Experience working in a Governance or compliance related support role · Understanding of the types of checks required in acquiring new software in the current environment – e.g. security, data protection regulations, IT asset lifecycle · Knowledge and experience of various operational support models for software applications: inhouse, outsourced and cloud. (2+ years) · Experience working in Global organisations with both distributed and centralised models of application deployment and support. (2+ years) · Experience with Enterprise level solutions (such as Oracle, Microsoft) · Excellent communication skills and ability to work with a wide variety of stakeholders

Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training: · Tertiary qualification in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems or similar;
IT Skills: · Advanced skills in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word · Familiarity with Microsoft operating environments – E.g. SharePoint, PowerBI
