HSE Advisor Cranes /Underground/

With the continued growth of the project, our team has ongoing construction opportunities based on site at the Oyu Tolgoi Mine in Mongolia. We are now seeking a HSE Advisor Cranes /Underground/. This role is based on site at Oyu Tolgoi Mine for 4 weeks on, 2 weeks off. 

The purpose of this role is review engineered lift plans, checking the calculations, inspecting the cranes, rigging and associated equipment, and safety supervision for all lifts.

Please note that it is a requirement of this role that the successful candidate is a Mongolian Citizen.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain an active presence in the field for majority of daily construction activities.
• Assist as required in the verification of competency of crane operators, riggers and lifting supervisors assigned to the project.
• Assist the Area Construction Managers in the timely resolution of issues and concerns relating to use of cranes and lifting operations.
• Seek to continually improve lifting and rigging practices.
• Make satisfactory progress at all times towards preparing a successor to be ready in approximately 24 months.  Mentor, motivate, and train his/her replacement.
• Verify compliance of lifting operations with local regulatory requirements and OT HSE standards.
• Review, with key stakeholders, contractor Safe Work Method Statements, JHAs or contractor risk assessments relating to lifting, including review of all critical lifts.
• Coach CM team members and contractors on the critical risk management aspects of cranes and lifting operations.
• Ensure suitable records of inspections are maintained.
• Participate in investigation of incidents involving lifting or poor lifting and rigging practices.

Requirements:

• 10 years minimum in crane safety operations required
• Ability to lead, coach, and train
• Understanding of overall EPCM project phases, management and specific requirements to job/work related areas.
• Understanding and follow the Employer & Client policies and procedures.
• Understanding and follow job specific policies, procedures, regulation and guidelines.
• Assess project risks and understand associated contingencies related to the Employee's work areas.
• Ability to work with specific programs, systems and tools as required by the Position.
