Painter - Anchorage Fab Shop
Our Anchorage Fab Shop Painters prepares surfaces and applies protective coatings such as paints to pipes, valves, structural, and vessels as required in new construction or maintenance.
Essential Functions
Responsible for the application of paint and coatings (including roof coatings) necessary to properly maintain facilities or complete new construction. Must have a working knowledge of all paints, preparation, and special coatings.
Directs blast of abrasive-laden compressed air or water from nozzle against metal or hard-composition objects to remove adhering scale, sand, paint, grease, tar, rust, and dirt, and to impart even finish: Shovels abrasives, such as sand, grit, or shot of specified grade into machine hopper. Applies masking materials to protect designated areas form abrasive action. Dons protective equipment, such as helmet, suit, gloves, or hood to protect body from injury, and turns on air supply. Sandblast parts to required finish. Cleans large parts, using nozzle. Loads large parts on racks within enclosed room, using hoist. Turns valves to regulate pressure and mixture of abrasive and fluid flowing through nozzle. Directs nozzle manually over surfaces of parts for specified interval
- Four (4) years experience as an industrial or commercial painter.
- Valid Alaska Painters Certification Card is required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Experience in a petrochemical or related industry is preferred.
