The Project Quality Coordinator role has a broad range of duties involved in the development and coordination of project quality related activities including: coordination meetings, action logs, meeting minutes, presentation materials, organization charts, decision records, etc.  The successful candidate must be able to think strategically, and work with multiple department groups to assist with the delivery of project Quality requirements. 

The Site Quality Coordinator reports to the Quality Lead and is integrated within the Construction Management team, is responsible for the implementation and monitoring of the construction Quality Assurance and Control program in accordance with the projects requirements and specifications.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and prepare Quality materials for project orientation sessions and kick-off meetings, and manage associated records for Contractors and Construction Inspectors
  • Conduct Activity Quality Plan and Lessons Learned orientation with the Contractor
  • Promote alignment of expectations and develop material to ensure clear, consistent understanding of Quality Plans, Activity Quality Plans, processes and requirements
  • Support development and implementation of the construction Quality Surveillance plan, including completion of Quality surveillance checklists, in coordination with the Quality Lead
  • Facilitate Quality meetings at the field level with CMT including development and distribution of presentations and documentation (meeting minutes and communication of key messages. Review and monitor implementation of Contractor’s quality documents including Inspection and Test Plans and Quality procedures.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of quality turnover documentation, as required by contract, and facilitate and monitor progressive turnover
  • Support the implementation of the Quality Audit Plan / Schedule and participate in Quality Audits, as required
  • Initiate Nonconformances and support the Nonconformance process, including Corrective Action planning and implementation and review of supporting documentation to determine readiness for closure
  • Evaluate effectiveness of systemic Nonconformance dispositions and Corrective Action plans and identify trends as they develop
  • Support the Opportunity for Improvement (OFI) program, including database management, development and implementation of action plans, analysis and reporting 
  • Support the Root Cause Analysis process, as required
  • Other tasks as required

Daily:

  • Participate in daily construction team meetings to discuss Construction and Quality related requirements / concerns
  • Plan daily tasks to be performed based on construction / quality schedule in conjunction with Site Construction Management team
  • Monitor and document site Quality activities using Surveillance Checklists, in conjunction with the Construction Inspectors, to ensure work performed complies with the KXL quality policies and procedures and specific job site quality requirements
  • Coordinate regularly with the Contractor Quality Representative to discuss upcoming and ongoing quality activities
  • Complete daily and weekly Quality reports for distribution to the Quality Lead, Construction Manager, and Project Manager.
  • Assist the Construction Inspectors in managing quality requirements of the Contractor / Subcontractors and reporting of potential quality issues, to the Construction Manager and Quality Lead
  • Champion quality culture and awareness throughout the worksite and contribute quality moments during meetings


 

 
  • Preferred Post-secondary education in a related field
  • 10 years field construction experience
  • Excellent grasp of construction Quality concepts and a minimum of 3 years of experience in quality assurance activities in multidiscipline construction environment (Pipeline, piping, civil, mechanical, etc.) 
  • Knowledge and experience in pipeline construction codes and standards (ASME B31.4, API 1104, etc)
  • Knowledge on ISO 9001, API 1177, Q1, Q2, preferred
  • Inspection Certifications (AWS CWI, NACE CIP, API, etc), preferred
  • API 1169 – Pipeline Construction Inspector Certification, required
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently to manage multiple and competing priorities, and to adapt to a changing environment
  • Demonstrated project management skills supported by the use of software applications including: SAP, Microsoft suite- Excel, Word, Power Point, Project, Visio
  • Ability to gather, multi-source data and produce clear and precise outputs, reports, and recommendations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to provide and present timely and relevant feedback / reporting to various levels of management 
  • Able to communicate effectively with trade skill personnel
  • Ability to exercise leadership without formal authority and work in a team environment
  • Business maturity and awareness with topics and matters that are confidential and competition sensitive
  • Attitude and aptitude for continuous improvement and change management coupled with a pragmatic and flexible approach to getting things done, independently or in a team setting
