Purpose:
-
- Ensure all engineering and design work performed adjusts to quality, cost and schedule requirements.
- Ensure all design work is safe and carried out in a safe manner.
- Ensure all design work conforms to the codes and standards used by the client, or to agreed industry standards.
Responsibilities:
-
- Lead a small team of Designers/Engineers as part of the Electrical team.
- Perform designing/engineering work/deliverables as part of the Electrical team.
- Ability to interpret client specifications.
- Coordinate/Communicate with other disciplines and the client.
- Quality Assurance – Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Worley Quality Assurance system
- Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions, and ask for assistance when required.
- If required, assist and support intermediate and junior personnel within the Electrical Engineering team.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest developments and technical innovations in Electrical engineering.
- May be required to aid and advice during procurement, construction and commissioning activities.
- Able to operate under rapidly changing environment
- Familiar with supervision in complex engineering projects
- Leadership and client interface and presentation qualities are essential for a pull through
- Reporting (Budget and schedule updates) to project management on regular basis and mitigation planning
What you will bring
Technical and Industry Experience
Professional Experience:
- Working experience in Hydrocarbons and/or Petrochemical Facilities. (Plastics knowledge and exposure preferred)
- Working experience designing, developing and leading different phases of Engineering Projects; from early stages up to Detailed Engineering.
- Extensive conceptual/front end project knowledge an asset
- Working experience developing and leading Construction Work Packages.
- Working experience developing and leading Material Requisitions and Technical Bid Evaluations.
- Thorough Understanding of Canadian Electrical Code and Ontario Electrical Safety Code.
- Working experience developing Electrical Area Classification studies, including thorough understanding of API505.
- Proficient in various electrical software or calculations (i.e. Pentair TraceCalc Pro, Voltage Drop, Cable Sizing/Ampacities, Basic Short Circuit Calcs, Equipment Sizing Ratings, Equipment Specification)
- High Voltage Experience, including substation design and redundancy feeders
- Experience with utility tie-ins and IESO an asset
- Experience with Emergency Standby power systems and UPS system design
- Working experience with Drawing Mark-ups
- Working experience checking own work and others work
- Successful track record of Budget and Schedule Compliance, experience developing schedule and milestone expectations and deliverables
- Working knowledge of industry standards and codes related to Electrical system deliverables.
- Being able to work with multiple and concurrently small and medium projects.
- Working knowledge of Computer Aided Design software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.).
- Competent use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite.
- Working experience in Utilities and Manufacturing Industries, added to Hydrocarbons and/or Petrochemical Facilities, would be an asset.
Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training
Required:
-
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
- More than fifteen (15+) years of direct Electrical design and engineering experience.
- PEng. registered in the Province of Ontario.
Preferred:
-
- Experience in the Worley business is an asset.
